Hello my name is Shundul, this is the official website where you can view and purchase my artwork, which I produce using my mouth.
I was born with an extremely rare condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. I have a physical disability which mainly affects the use of my hands, limbs and I use an electric wheelchair, as I am unable to walk.
Throughout my life, I have always been very interested in art, mainly drawing and painting. From the age of 7 years old, I first learned how to type using an electric typewriter; with a stick that was attached to a mouthpiece. Then from the age of 11 years old, I learned how to write, sketch and paint using a pen, pencil or paint brush in my mouth.
In January 2009, after some great time of deliberation, not really knowing what to do in my life for employment, and being somewhat limited by my physical disability, I finally had the most wonderful idea. I decided to take my interest and love of creating art more seriously, by making it my career.
I set myself up in a spare shop in my community, which became my workshop, called Studio71 where I started working as an artist. From January to August 2009 I produced my first collection of 25 paintings, which I entitled The Redemption Series Collection 01. six of my paintings have been sold from this collection, plus one commissioned piece. 19 original works on canvas now remain and are still available to buy from this website.
In September 2011, I had to close Studio71. This was because I could no longer afford to pay the rent and bills on the building. However in March 2012, with some renegotiation and talking things over with the landlord, I have now managed to get the shop back for less rent. I am very pleased to announce Studio71 is back!
Studio71 in some respects has saved my life and it holds wonderful memories of a place, where I have truly found myself as a human being. Studio71 is officially open again for business and it's now time to start over again; by putting the last 6 months behind me, which have been truly awful. It is now my goal to continue on my journey, creating the artwork I enjoy and truly love.
