I have always loved Ayer’s Rock in Australia. Uluru is the name given by the Aboriginal tribes native to that country. The Australian government have recently handed back Ayer’s Rock to its original owners and protectors the Aboriginies. The rock itself is made up of sandstone and it changes colour throughout the day with the cycle of the sun, from dawn until dusk. It is an awesome sight and the colour spectrum it reflects, is truly amazing. I had to paint this, but sadly I could not show how the sunlight works on this great wonder. However, I have done my very best creating the grasses, bushes, sand and the rock itself, which have been set on a beautiful sky just after sunset, approaching dusk. I should imagine this will be an iconic piece and will be a good painting worth investing in, which will give a good return in the future.
